Foam Cutting Challenge
Our client, a dental surgical tool and implant manufacturer, wished to create travel kits for trade shows and industry conferences. We were charged with the task of conserving space within the kit, as well as designing and crafting a removable tray for added flexibility and ease of access that would fit a Pelican 1630 case. The fragile components consisted of expensive, high-quality, precision equipment for dental implants and bone reconstruction.
Our Design Process
The FUSH Cases goal is to create an insert that precisely fits the items it is intended to hold. The best way to craft a secure fit is to have the case components in hand. So, the client sent the parts to our facility, where our team of fabrication and design professionals took accurate measurements and photographs of each tray item. Once this phase was complete, state-of-the-art drawing software was used to design cavities for the two inserts.
Cutting the Foam
Based on our years of industry knowledge and experience, we selected the most appropriate foam for the project – 1.7 black polyethylene foam. This non-abrasive material will provide superior dust-free cushioning for the high-tech case components. The designs were then precisely etched into the foam using a water jet cutting machine.
The Finished Foam Inserts
We sent prototypes of the inserts to the client for review. They were approved and quickly produced. Its sales team can now safely transport, organize, and promote this fragile merchandise. The client was extremely pleased with the end result and took the time to express their appreciation:
